Leslie Jack Nelson passed away on March 31, 2021 in Portland, TX. Jack was born in Lufkin, TX on May 9, 1951. He grew up in Houston, Tx graduating from Smiley High School. He attended Texas A&M University followed by a long career with the Houston Police Department. After leaving HPD Jack moved to Portland, Tx to do the job he loved on the water as a fishing guide for 29 years. Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years Norma Nelson, his mother Ruby Mae Nelson, brothers John David Nelson, John Wayne Snelson, his children James Bradley (Tricia) Nelson, Kristina (Gary) Wedhorn, Mikki (Michael) Talbott, John Henry (Amber) Nelson V, Cody Holley, Kristi (Kingsley) Havens, his grandchildren Cory (Cheyenne), Cameron, Kaiden, Emmerson, Ashley (Brendon), Bradley, Brittani, Brady, Bailey, Christopher, Kennedy (Payton), Nichole, John VI, Haley, Mason, Riley and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his father John Henry Nelson IV, brother Jim Nelson, sister Sophie Ann Snelson.
Funeral services will be performed at Gracepoint Church on April 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Limbaugh Funeral Home at 500 Wildcat Dr., Portland, TX.
