Juan Gilberto Avila

December 27, 1945 ~ August 7, 2019 (age 73)

It is with great sadness to announce that Juan Gilberto (Gilbert) Avila passed away on August 7, 2019, at the age of 73, following a short illness.  He was known as (Gator) to his friends and family. He was born in Gregory TX then moved to Houston TX in his adult life for a number of years before settling in Ingleside Texas.  Gilbert worked as an Inspector for a Fabrication Company in Houston and retired as an Inspector.  He was creative and made peach pit carvings that he learned from his father. He loved fishing, outdoors recreation and singing.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents Aurelio and Eulojia Avila and by his brothers, Aurelio Avila Jr. and Jose.

His is survived by his children Melissa, Danny, Celeste; Brothers Jesus Avila, Carlos Avila, Ramiro Avila; Sisters   Matilda Ramirez, Angelina Mora, Elena Villarreal, Carmen Villarreal, Amelia Harper, Connie Gobble and his grandchildren.

 He will be remembered by his nine siblings and their spouses and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM on August 9, 2019 at Limbaugh Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM on August 10, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory. Burial to follow in Gregory Cemetery. There will be refreshments at the church following the service.
